Key Factors of Success
- Middleware agnostic IBM i (AS400) infoConnect Hub integration tool to aid in a clear, simple migration process
- Cross-platform expertise across MuleSoft, IBM i (AS400) Kubernetes, and JDE
Outcomes
- Multi-language environment supporting various languages and specialized characters
- High throughput environments that can support global interactions
- Migration of MuleSoft integrations, B2B platforms, JDE, and other systems to cloud-native solutions
- Turning infoConnect Hub into a lightweight “middleware” that presents a JDE integration layer on top of JDE for external consumers to interact with without any overly expensive enterprise grade middleware
The Customer
A leading global energy provider with integrated brands and operations across the oil and gas value chain. They have over 110 years of experience in the energy industry and have distinctive experience in worldwide technology, trading, and enterprise partnerships.

The Challenge
While in the process of moving away from their existing enterprise integration middleware to a native, cloud-based solution, the customer found themselves struggling to implement the migration completely in-house due to system complexities and the need for specialized integrations with their existing legacy ERP system. Due to the customer’s global reach, their IBM i-based operating system operated across different environments, namely, East Asia and Non-East Asia environments, which utilized different cloud hosting platforms and also required the use of different characters and programming calls.
The Solution
Leveraging Infoview’s infoConnect Hub and cross platform team of developers, we assisted the customer throughout the deployment process, as well as customized a light middleware to facilitate seamless global interactions between their systems and external consumers. The customer also leveraged our expertise in both MuleSoft and JDE to make the required customizations to their specialized environments, establishing secure connections between their disparate IBM i environments. Additional customizations included implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps to improve system performance and permanently increase throughput volume.

Results
The efforts from the Infoview’s development team resulted in a successful migration of MuleSoft, B2B platforms, JDE, and other systems to a cloud-native, middleware-less solution. The new environment better supports the customer’s global reach, enabling the use of specialized characters such as Chinese, Japanese, and other languages utilized across their global systems.
