Data is one of the most important organizational assets. All successful modernization and transformation initiatives rely on fresh high quality data for AI, analytics, and operational use cases. InfoConnect platform includes no-code tooling to surface IBMi data in near real time in external data platforms, as well as stream database changes to messaging and event brokers.
InfoCDC is a critical part of this data flow. It is implemented as a lightweight high-throughput IBMi-native agent that receives IBMi journal entries in real time and passes them on to InfoConnect middleware. The product has been addressing traditional CDC use cases and drives business critical workflows for companies running their Systems of Record on IBMi.
With this latest release, we added several features that address more complex requirements that go beyond direct data replicatios:
Support for multiple environments within the same InfoCDC installation.
InfoCDC runs one listener per journal. When multiple tables are attached to the same journal, their processing is consolidated and runs sequentially, even for non-related tables. In order to improve the throughput and enable processing different tables linked to the same journal in parallel, the latest release introduces the ability to configure multiple CDC environments that process tables and replication flows independently, even if they are linked to the same journal.
Ability to define custom columns, and execute custom filtering and processing logic
With this feature, customers can, for example, add a JSON that represents a business object, such as order or load or policy, to each change event, and / or filter the changes based on specific criteria. This solves one of the biggest CDC challenges and lets customers define and emit complex business events when one of the elements changes.
Ability to import and export InfoCDC configurations in bulk
Companies can now script their InfoCDC configuration and perform it both via IBMi UI and via external scripts, automating the configuration and migration of settings to higher environments.
Auto-detect table changes
InfoCDC can now automatically detect the change in table structure, and in most cases generate new format files and pass that information to InfoConnect Hub or Mulesoft or Kafka connectors.
Performance and UX improvements
This release further streamlines the user experience interacting with the product and includes performance oriented features such as ability to acknowledge multiple records at once.
This release brings customers one step closer to blending their CDC scenarios with application integration use cases, adds more automation, improves performance, and gives customers more ways to control the data selection and transformation at the source.
